Spotify Merged Physical and Digital Book Browsing in One App

Spotify expanded its audiobook platform to include physical book purchases, partnering with Bookshop.org to let users buy print copies directly through the app. Every purchase routes through Bookshop's inventory and shipping, with proceeds benefiting independent booksellers — a move that positions Spotify less as a disruptor and more as a connector within the literary ecosystem.

The update also introduced Page Match, a computer vision tool that lets premium subscribers scan a page from a physical or e-book and jump directly to that moment in the audiobook. Paired with Audiobook Recaps — bite-sized summaries now expanding to Android — Spotify is building a more seamless reading experience that meets users wherever they are in a book. With over 500,000 titles on the platform and audiobook listening hours up 37% year-over-year, the timing makes sense.
