The Sadiaa Black Beauty Guide Runs National Black Beauty Week

The Sadiaa Black Beauty Guide has announced the return of National Black Beauty Week, scheduled for August 16 through 22, 2026. The theme for this year's event is 'The Promise of Black Beauty.'

Founded in 2022 by media executive Stephenetta Harmon, National Black Beauty Week serves as a dedicated period for examining both the progress made and the persistent challenges facing Black beauty communities, particularly in light of shifting corporate commitments to representation, investment, and opportunity since the heightened social awareness of 2020. The initiative arrives at a time when Black consumers are driving significant economic activity in the beauty sector, having spent $16.2 billion in the past year according to NielsenIQ data, yet continue to face disparities in access to marketing, funding, resources, and product availability relative to their influence on trends and purchasing power. This contradiction is underscored by stark declines in venture funding for Black beauty founders, which fell from $73 million in 2022 to just $16 million in 2024, alongside a reduction of more than half in available grant and accelerator opportunities.
