Thryve.Earth Secures First Corporate Offtake Commitments

Thryve.Earth, a Singapore-based landscape restoration company, has secured its first corporate offtake commitments from the Symbiosis Coalition. Members Google and McKinsey are contracting over 335,000 tonnes of carbon removal, and Tencent is committing an additional 300,000 tonnes to restore 6,000 hectares of degraded land in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The landscape restoration project employs an agroforestry model that plants a layered system of fruit and timber trees, which not only sequester carbon but also provide diversified income streams for local smallholder farmers over multiple time horizons. The initiative builds upon decades of field-tested work by the Masarang Foundation and addresses severe environmental degradation caused by shifting agriculture, soil erosion, and invasive species that have turned the region into fire-prone grasslands with depleted soils. The upfront costs of clearing invasive grasses and establishing new tree seedlings are substantial, making these long-term purchase commitments critical to unlocking the necessary financing to implement restoration at scale.
