Heart Aerospace X1 Advances Regional Electric Aircraft Development

The Heart Aerospace X1 completed its maiden flight on 12 August, becoming the largest battery-electric aircraft to fly and marking a key milestone in the development of the company's ES-30 regional aircraft. Operating from Plattsburgh International Airport in New York, the full-scale technology demonstrator completed a 27-minute test flight that included taxiing, takeoff, climb, manoeuvring and landing. Powered by four electric motors delivering more than one megawatt of output, the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 1,100 feet while operating entirely on battery power. The X1 features a 106-foot wingspan, measures 76 feet in length and has a takeoff weight exceeding 25,000 pounds.

Rather than serving as a production aircraft, the X1 is designed to validate the propulsion system, aerodynamics and flight technologies planned for the 30-seat ES-30 hybrid-electric regional aircraft. The future model is expected to offer an all-electric range of approximately 125 miles and a hybrid range of up to 500 miles with a 30-minute battery recharge time.
