Mercedes-Benz Expands EV Options for Mega Trailer Logistics

Electric volume transport trucks are expanding the capabilities of commercial electric fleets by bringing battery-powered solutions to high-capacity freight operations. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has introduced the eActros Lowliner, an electric truck designed specifically for volume-intensive logistics using mega trailers. Built on the eActros 600 platform, the vehicle offers up to 500 kilometers of range, configurable battery options and compatibility with existing trailer setups. Its low coupling height maximizes cargo space while advanced features such as predictive powertrain control and energy recuperation help improve operational efficiency and battery performance.

As logistics companies face increasing pressure to reduce emissions, specialized electric trucks can support decarbonization without requiring major changes to fleet operations. The ability to integrate electric vehicles into existing transport networks may accelerate adoption among freight operators. Manufacturers also have opportunities to develop application-specific EV platforms that address different cargo needs, helping expand the commercial electric vehicle market while improving efficiency, sustainability and long-haul transport performance.
