Provocative Architecture Design Publications

Archi-Tectonics, the global architecture studio led by Winka Dubbeldam and co-led by Justin Korhammer, has released its fifth monograph — 'Monsters and Mutants: Explorations in the Architecture–Nature Continuum.' Published by Park Books Switzerland, this book presents a provocative framework for architectural design that actively reverses climate change.

Archi-Tectonics' 'Monsters and Mutants: Explorations in the Architecture–Nature Continuum' proposes a novel concept of architectural taxonomies built upon the untapped potential of plant intelligence — an area largely unexplored in architecture. The monograph draws lessons from how plants adapt to environmental stress and employ inherent survival mechanisms to inform regenerative building strategies. Central to this concept is the firm's pioneering master plan for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Chin — a 47-hectare park with seven buildings designed in collaboration with !melk Landscape and Thornton Tomasetti Engineers.
