Local AI Meeting Recorders
yapyap Keeps Meeting Recordings And Transcriptions On Your Device
Many meeting recording tools upload conversations to the cloud and charge users recurring subscription fees, which can be a concern for people who want greater control over their recordings. yapyap is a local-first voice and meeting recorder that records, transcribes, identifies speakers, and turns conversations into summaries and action items directly on the user's machine.
Its “Lenses” feature lets users transform recordings into different formats depending on what they need, such as summaries, to-do lists, or decision logs. Users can install additional Lenses or create their own to customise how conversations are processed. The app can also optionally connect to cloud AI providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Groq for users who prefer cloud-based processing. By default, however, yapyap keeps the workflow local rather than automatically sending recordings to an external server. The app uses a one-time ownership model rather than a subscription, positioning it as a privacy-focused alternative to cloud-based meeting recorders.
