Traceable Packaging Labels
Polytag and MCC Embed UV Tags into In-Mold Packaging Labels
Traceable packaging labels are giving brands greater visibility into what happens to packaging after it enters the waste stream. Polytag and MCC Global are expanding this capability by embedding invisible UV tags directly into in-mold labeled packaging, allowing material recovery facilities to identify packaging and access information such as material composition, recycled content and origin. The technology also feeds post-use data back to brands, helping them evaluate recycling performance and improve packaging design for circularity.
This approach reflects the growing demand for connected packaging that supports regulatory compliance and more efficient recycling systems. Access to detailed end-of-life data enables companies to make informed decisions about materials, reduce waste and prepare for evolving digital product information requirements. As extended producer responsibility programs expand worldwide, embedded traceability solutions can help businesses improve recycling outcomes, strengthen supply chain transparency and create measurable environmental value while supporting long-term circular packaging strategies.
