Automated Sms-Based Support Tools

Philips Avent has launched the Share the Care Connector — an automated SMS-based tool designed to help new mothers organize and mobilize their support networks during the postpartum period by removing the emotional and logistical burden of asking for and coordinating help from friends and family.

The personalized Share the Care Connector text-based companion allows moms to invite trusted individuals into their village, specify the types of assistance they would most value, and designate a 'Most Valuable Villager' to help coordinate efforts, while the system then sends actionable prompts to supporters with suggestions for meal deliveries, errands, emotional check-ins, or other small acts of care.

Philips Avent's development of the Share the Care Connector tool was informed by survey research conducted in partnership with March of Dimes, which revealed that although nine out of ten people express willingness to assist new parents, nearly two-thirds of mothers find it difficult to actually request support.
