Michaels Debuts the Next Gen Stores in Arkansas, Ohio, and Texas

Michaels has introduced a new experiential store format, referred to as its Next Gen stores. The latest location of this strategic venture opened in Rogers, Arkansas, following earlier pilots in Easton, Ohio, and Irving, Texas.

Michaels' Next Gen stores represent a significant step in the company’s broader operational shift. The goal is to remake the shopping environment into a more interactive and community-focused destination rather than a traditional craft supply outlet. The physical layout has been reorganized into distinct shopping worlds, each dedicated to a specific category such as knitting and sewing, fine arts, floral arranging, and party supplies. The design emphasizes visual displays that demonstrate how products can be used in finished projects. One of the most notable additions is the Swatch Bar, a proprietary feature that allows customers to feel fabric samples in person.
