Molded Fiber Packaging Facilities
Cirkla Will Establish a Facility in Gainesville, Georgia
Cirkla has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Gainesville, Georgia, which will be the first U.S. plant exclusively dedicated to producing molded fiber packaging for meat products, with operations scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. This facility will focus on scaling the company's fiber-based Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) trays, which incorporate a patented liner technology designed to replace traditional plastic foam and rigid plastic trays commonly used for fresh poultry, beef, and pork.
Cirkla's molded fiber packaging for meat products innovation because it directly addresses growing concerns about plastic waste in grocery supply chains, offering a packaging alternative that is derived from renewable plant fibers such as sugarcane bagasse, bamboo, and wood pulp, which are agricultural byproducts or rapidly renewable resources.
