Heritage Selvedge Jeans
Levi's Vintage Clothing 1942 501 Jeans Revive an Archival Design
The Levi's Vintage Clothing 1942 501 Jeans faithfully reproduce a transitional wartime model drawn from the brand's historical archives. Constructed from heavyweight Shrink-to-Fit selvedge denim, the limited edition preserves pre-war details that disappeared as wartime material restrictions reshaped production. A metal buckle back cinch remains alongside period-correct construction features including an inverted yoke seam, hidden rivets, single-needle arcuate pocket stitching, a two-horse leather patch and a single-sided capital "E" Red Tab. Each pair is supplied in an unwashed raw state with reproduction packaging inspired by the original release.
The archival model represents a brief manufacturing period that bridged earlier 501 construction methods with simplified wartime specifications. Traditional detailing is combined with historically accurate materials and finishing techniques to recreate the original garment as closely as possible. Every pair also includes a reproduction paper flasher and decorative dollar bill insert reflecting the original presentation. The limited release launches on August 13 through Levi's Store Kyoto and via a lottery on the brand's official online store, priced at ¥66,000.
