Nutritious Food-Focused Initiatives
NACHC and Abbott Food for Health Program Focuses on Nutrition
Abbott, in partnership with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), has launched a multi-year initiative called the NACHC and Abbott Food for Health Initiative. This venture aims to integrate nutritious food as a foundational component of primary care delivered by Community Health Centers across the United States, reaching over 1,500 centers that serve 52.3 million patients, including one in seven Americans and one in three rural residents.
The NACHC and Abbott Food for Health Initiative includes a voluntary national certification framework, a structured learning program for health center staff, and a peer-learning network, all designed to build nutrition literacy, develop clinical systems, and share best practices for addressing food insecurity and managing diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular conditions.
