UV-Tagged Recyclable Pilots
Kraft Heinz Has Joined Polytag's Ecotrace Program
Kraft Heinz is the first branded food manufacturer to join Polytag's Ecotrace program, an industry-led initiative that uses invisible UV tag technology to track single-use plastic packaging recycling across the U.K. The pilot begins with select lines of Heinz Beanz and Heinz Tomato Ketchup, giving the brand real-time data on whether its products are being recycled, in what volumes and through which trash streams, with plans to expand across additional product pillars.
The partnership builds on Kraft Heinz's earlier transformation of its squeezy ketchup bottles into fully recyclable packaging, extending that work to post-consumption tracking. Polytag's technology enables barcode-level data collection at scale for single-use plastics entering UK household recycling bins.
Kraft Heinz's participation shows how data-driven tracking could become essential infrastructure for validating sustainability commitments throughout the product lifecycle.
