ThredUp's Dress Code Decoder Fights One-Wear Outfits During Wedding Season

It's wedding season, and new data from online resale platform ThredUp reports that 58% of guests say that dress codes are more specific than ever, prompting the release of the Dress Code Decoder. This styling tool tackles the one-wear wedding economy and invites guests to input moodboards inspired by the dress code from their invite to get a curated edit of secondhand looks that they can buy from ThredUp’s inventory.

“As wedding dress codes become more niche, guests are facing a significant time and effort gap in finding the right attire. Nearly a third of guests tell us they simply aren't sure what to wear," said Cynthia Lee, Head of Merchandising at ThredUp. "We see an opportunity to remove that friction. The Dress Code Decoder is a shortcut designed to address some of that confusion, allowing guests to spend less time searching and more time focusing on the event itself.”
