Base44 Launches Base1 Model to Power Its Vibe-Coding Platform

Base44, the vibe-coding platform owned by Wix, introduced its own AI model, Base1, to help users build apps with natural-language prompts, featuring training on tens of millions of real user interactions. The launch marks a shift from relying solely on frontier models toward an in-house LLM integrated into the company's product stack.

Base1 was trained on a dataset generated from activity across the Base44 platform and is rolling out initially to support app creation workflows, with the company citing improvements in latency, cost and efficiency. The model's development follows Base44's acquisition by Wix and builds on the startup's growing engineering capabilities and user data.

For users, Base1 aims to deliver faster, lower-cost and more tailored app generation. The release reflects a broader trend of applied AI companies developing proprietary models to strengthen product integration and long-term differentiation.
