The garments utilize structured undergarments like a corset as a base and integrate elements of menswear tailoring for contrasting definition. Vivienne Westwood also includes botanical motifs like rose pattern derived from historical botanical illustrations and delicate orange blossom details, the latter chosen for its local resonance and traditional symbolism. The selection of fabrics ranged from substantial jacquards and linens to ethereal textiles such as chiffon, georgette, and organza, with a conscious use of washing and treatment to impart a sense of heritage and softness.
