Restore full-funnel attribution with a UTM audit
100%
Attribution breaks quietly: one campaign spells its source three ways, another routes traffic through a redirect that strips the parameters, and the channel report stops adding up. This engagement inventories every live link, repairs the breaks, and leaves a naming spec that holds.
The process
Inventory the live links
Every tagged link in circulation collected — ad platforms, EDM, partner placements, QR codes, social profiles — and joined to what GA4 or PostHog actually recorded.
Classify the breaks
Case mismatches, missing mediums, redirects that drop the query string, self-referrals and untagged partner traffic, each ranked by how much traffic it affects.
Write the spec
A naming convention with a fixed vocabulary for source, medium and campaign, plus explicit rules for paid versus owned social and for partner links you do not control.
Fix at source and hand over a builder
Broken links corrected where they are published, redirects repaired, and a link builder given to whoever creates campaigns, so the next link is right by construction.
Guard the channel report
Channel grouping rules updated and an exception report scheduled, so an unrecognised source surfaces in its first week rather than at quarter end.
