Iconic Flying V Guitars
Gibson Custom Debuts the 1971 Flying V Medallion Reissue
Gibson Custom has unveiled the 1971 Flying V Medallion Reissue — a handcrafted recreation of one of the rarest and most historically significant guitars ever produced by the company.
The original instrument was released in highly limited numbers during the early hard rock era. This reissue, available in Medallion Cherry, is built in Nashville with meticulous attention to vintage specifications. It features a thinner two-piece mahogany body that reduces weight while enhancing resonance and sustain, and a three-piece mahogany neck with an Authentic 1971 Flying V profile for a fast, comfortable playing feel. Period-correct details include a volute, rosewood fretboard, classic dot inlays, chrome hardware, a Historic Reissue ABR-1 bridge, and a Stop Bar tailpiece, while the sonic character is driven by a matched set of authentic unpotted T-Top humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets.
