Consolidated Supportive Services
The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation Debuts AccessPHL
The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation has introduced AccessPHL — a comprehensive online resource designed to consolidate information about the wide array of supportive services and programs available at Philadelphia International Airport. The goal of this venture is to make the travel experience more navigable and less stressful for individuals with diverse needs.
The AccessPHL digital hub functions as a centralized guide that details everything from wheelchair requests and mobility device handling to quiet rooms, sensory-friendly support through the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, and complimentary access to visual interpreting services via the Aira app for both blind and Deaf travelers. What sets this initiative apart is its holistic approach, as it does not merely list standard accommodations but also addresses less obvious requirements such as caregiver support, private lactation suites, companion care restrooms, language interpretation through Globo and 'I Speak' pins, and even modified TSA screening procedures for older adults.
