Storytelling breathes life into collectibles, transforming them from just objects into vessels of memory and emotion, and Bad Date Bears is a new line of plush collectibles that draws inspiration from universal dating experiences. Packaged in boxes that resemble swipeable app profiles, the Bad Date Bears are packed with personalities and backstories that kidult collectors can appreciate.

"Unlike dating, you can see what you’re getting," said creator Laura Frerichs. Bad Date Bears characters include Situationship Steve, Love Bomber Louis, and Frank the Fish, inspired by the many dating profiles featuring men holding a fresh catch.

This new line of collectibles, informed by common relationship behaviors, launches at the New York Toy Fair 2026.
