Sesame Workshop Debuts Extreme Weather Response Program

Sesame Workshop has launched a comprehensive Extreme Weather response initiative designed to help children and families prepare for, cope with, and recover from increasingly frequent and intense events such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. This creative direction debuts with a new special called Storm on Sesame Street that airs on Netflix, PBS KIDS, and YouTube.

Sesame Workshop's Extreme Weather episode features Elmo and his friends working together to get ready for a major storm, learning strategies for preparedness, courage, and emotional regulation during frightening moments. The content also seeks to demonstrate the power of community rebuilding and small acts of kindness in the aftermath, with appearances by celebrity guests Post Malone and Michelle Buteau.

Beyond the broadcast, the initiative provides free bilingual digital content, updated family guides, shareable activities, a forthcoming storybook about loss and healing, and Sesame Care Kits containing comfort items and essentials packaged in child-friendly backpacks to support families during evacuations and displacement.
