Communities in Schools Partners with Whataburger

Communities In Schools, the nation's largest provider of school-based integrated student support services, has partnered with the fast-food chain Whataburger to expand the second annual 'Ready, Set, Learn!' Back-to-School Tour to seven cities across the southern United States, nearly doubling the initiative's reach from its four-city debut in 2025.

The 'Ready, Set, Learn!' Back-to-School Tour, which also receives support from CareSource, will make stops in Memphis, Charlotte, Houston, Jackson, Atlanta, Athens, and San Antonio between August 15 and the end of the month. Its mission is to provide school supplies, community resources, student celebrations, and specialized college care packages to more than 100 students at each location, with particular attention to first-generation college freshmen preparing for their postsecondary transitions.

The effort by Communities In Schools, supported by Whataburger, addresses the financial strain that many families face at the start of the academic year, as students frequently lack necessary materials for classroom participation or struggle to replace depleted supplies as the term progresses.

Surprise Charitable Back-To-School Initiatives

Round Room, a Verizon Authorized Retailer operating under the TCC and Wireless Zone brands, orchestrated a surprise back-to-school initiative called Operation Do Good, during which nearly 3,000 students and teachers across six Indianapolis Public Schools middle schools received new New Balance shoes and socks. The total donation is estimated to be worth over $375,000, with the event disguised as a pep rally and featuring volunteer engagement, small-group activities, and personal fittings.
