Agent-Optimized Cloud Browsers

Cloudflare Launches Kitesurf Cloud-Hosted Browser for AI Agents

Cloudflare introduced Kitesurf, a cloud-hosted browser built specifically for AI agents, featuring an architecture optimized for headless automation and low resource use. The browser runs atop Cloudflare Workers and was developed from modular pieces like Blitz’s rendering components, Firefox’s Stylo CSS parser, and the Boa JS engine.

Kitesurf arrived after a 12-week development push and is available free in beta via Browser Run, where developers can control headless instances programmatically. Cloudflare said Kitesurf already passes roughly 215,000 web platform tests and emphasized efficiency gains — lower CPU and memory use versus Chromium for common agent tasks.

For developers building web-capable agents, Kitesurf reduces the need to craft bespoke browsers and cuts hosting costs by trimming compute and token overhead. As AI agents shift from chat to action, purpose-built browsers like Kitesurf make scalable, secure web automation more practical.
