The Buddhabot Plus Targets the Buddhist Community

The Institute for Human and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Terraverse Inc., has launched Buddhabot Plus to serve the Kingdom of Bhutan’s Buddhist community. Developed in partnership with the Central Monastery of Bhutan, Buddhabot Plus utilizes the latest version of ChatGPT (ChatGPT o1-mini) to create a generative AI tool designed to engage in meaningful Buddhist dialogue. It represents a unique fusion of cutting-edge AI technology and spiritual practice.

Buddhabot Plus research team is led by Professor Seiji Kumagai and CEO Toshikazu Furuya, who have previously gained international attention for their earlier versions of Buddhabot and related AR technologies. Despite widespread interest, the team has withheld public release until now, awaiting formal requests from Buddhist authorities. The recent endorsement from Bhutan’s Central Monastery marks a significant step forward.
