Employee AI Spend Controls

Rippling Introduced Its AI Spend Console to Track Token Costs

Rippling introduced AI Spend Console, a tool that tracks AI token spending across individual employees, teams and roles while linking usage to measurable productivity. The product also includes an AI gateway designed to route prompts toward more cost-effective models based on the task.

AI Spend Console provides dashboards that compare prompts, spending and work output, such as lines of code, pull requests or customer onboarding activity. Rippling also introduced spending controls and model routing after finding that internal AI costs were rising rapidly. The company said these measures helped reduce token spending from roughly 40% of its R&D headcount budget to about 15% without meaningfully reducing usage.

For employers, the platform provides greater visibility into AI costs while helping organizations connect token consumption with work outcomes. It reflects growing enterprise demand for governance tools that balance broad AI adoption with tighter budget controls.
