Threads Ads are ready for tests, not mature-channel assumptions
Meta is rolling Threads ads to all users and markets, with multiple formats and brand-safety verification. Early delivery remains low, so tests need placement-level discipline.

Meta for Business says ads on Threads are rolling out to all users and markets globally after advertiser access became broadly available. The same announcement lists image, video, carousel, 4:5, catalog and app ad support, plus third-party brand safety and suitability verification. Search Engine Land separately reported the global user-side rollout and low initial delivery.
This is enough to justify structured testing. It is not enough to treat Threads as a mature media channel with stable cost or conversion assumptions. Meta explicitly says delivery will remain low at first as global availability expands. That means early tests may be underpowered, and campaign-level averages may hide what Threads is doing.
Extend campaigns, but isolate the read
The convenience of Advantage+ and manual campaign extension is useful. It also creates measurement risk. If Threads sits inside a broader Meta campaign, the team may see aggregate results and assume the new placement contributed. That is not a defensible read.
Where setup allows, isolate Threads as a placement or at least segment reporting by placement. Track frequency, incremental reach, comment quality, brand-safety placement reports and downstream actions. Do not judge it only by blended CPA while delivery is still low.
Platform engagement is not ad performance
Meta's broader AI update says Threads time spent rose 20% after Q4 optimisations. Metricool's organic study says Threads averaged 1,536 impressions and nearly 25 interactions per post in connected accounts. Both signals support the view that Threads has attention and early activity. Neither proves paid conversion performance.
For 2026 planning, the right question is whether Threads adds incremental context to Meta buying. Does it reach a conversation audience that Facebook or Instagram is missing? Does the comment environment improve brand understanding? Does the placement create useful first-party signals? Those are testable questions.
So what
Threads Ads should enter the plan as a small, instrumented test. The next action is to run a four-week placement read with separate naming, placement reporting, frequency cap review, comment-quality notes and downstream action tracking. Scale only if Threads produces incremental reach or qualified engagement beyond the existing Meta mix.
